HOLI 2010

On the 10th of April, 2010 RIGSA celebrated Holi in association with New Brunswick Free Public Library. The event took place in the library premises. This was the first ever RIGSA event to be held along with another organization outside of Rutgers. The event kicked off at 1pm EST with Heena application by a few of our talented RIGSA members, Shruthi Panwalkar, Sangeetha Rajagopalan and Hemi Sangani, followed by two dance performances [Gustaakh Dil/Aaj Kal Tere Mere medley and Yeh Dil Hai/Mera Piya Ghar Aaya medley], three music pieces [Choti Si Asha, Maeri - Euphoria and Woh Sanam/Duba Duba medley] and an informative presentation on Holi, its historic importance and cultural significance. Food was served. The event was open to general public and we had a mixed audience who thoroughly enjoyed the event. Mrs. Kavita Pandey was our organizing partner from the Library.

DIWALI 2009, A Date To Remember

On the 21st of November, 2009 RIGSA celebrated Diwali with a difference. This was one of a kind in the history of RIGSA. The event started with a "Mela" where people could get henna applied to their hands, paint diyas, fill in colors for Rangoli design. There was a photography contest as well and the best photographs won prizes. Yearbook shots were taken. The cultural programs started a little later at night which again were amazing. The details of the programs can be found in the RIGSA Blog. After dinner, there was an open dance floor. The doors closed at 12am.
